First-year Marshall University students kicked off the fall 2022 Week of Welcome by moving into their new residence halls on Monday and Tuesday.
This week, students will attend various welcome events around campus starting on Weds., Aug. 17, with “Take Your Future By The Horns” at the Career Center. In addition to the first sessions of UNI 100 classes, through the week students can attend a disco party, an ice cream social, an outdoor movie, build-a-bison, an intramural soccer tournament, an e-sports tournament, and several other events around campus.

“A Taste of Marshall Athletics,” at 6 p.m. on Thursday evening at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, will be the setting for the official freshman class photo on the football field. There will also be food trucks and a showing of Warner Bros.’ “We Are Marshall” film later in the evening. Students will also have the opportunity to travel to Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex for the women’s soccer home opener against the High Point Panthers.
In the morning, on Friday Aug. 19, the Class of 2026 will celebrate the beginning of their MU student careers with another class photo around the John Marshall Statue on campus, followed by a Freshman Convocation at the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center downtown. A portion of Fourth Avenue between campus and the theatre will be closed while the students walk with the drum line to and from convocation.
Classes at Marshall University will begin Monday, Aug. 22, 2022.
