Marshall University men’s soccer will kick off the 2022 season with a home match at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex against Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) on Thursday, August 25 at 7:15 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Marshall enters the season ranked #14 in the nation, one of three teams in the new Sun Belt Conference ranked in the top 15. The others are West Virginia (#6) and Kentucky (#8). The Thundering Herd has not been ranked lower than the top 15 since October of 2019. This is the Sun Belt’s first year offering men’s soccer, after a hiatus, and it is already looking to be a very competitive league.
For Thursday’s matchup against VCU, there will be a free fan tailgate hosted at Veterans Memorial Park on the northwest corner of the stadium starting at 5 p.m. Bring your own drink and a snack to share. Parking is limited, so come early!
The Marshall women’s soccer team will also play Thursday at 4 p.m. against Morehead State. The men’s team fans will cheer them on from the tailgate.
