The Marshall University Thundering Herd football squad dominated the Keydets of Virginia Military Institute 56-17 Saturday in the season opener for both teams at Joan C. Edwards Stadium in Huntington.
Sophomore quarterback Isaiah Green threw a career-high 4 touchdown passes versus one interception before leaving the game early following a late hit from the VMI defense. Redshirt Senior Alex Thomson would complete the outing as QB. Redshirt Junior linebacker Jaquan Yulee also left the game on a stretcher in the first quarter due to a broken neck; he announced via Twitter that he is out for the rest of the season.

The Herd will now travel to take on the Boise State Broncos on Friday, September 6, from Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho. The Broncos opened the season with a 36-31 victory over Florida State.
