The Marshall University Thundering Herd football squad got absolutely shellacked by the Cincinnati Bearcats 52-14 Saturday night before a packed house of 32,192 at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. That number is good enough for 13th highest attendance all-time edging out the 1995 national championship.

However, despite the clear crowd advantage, the Herd was never really even in the game going down 45-0 at the end of three quarters.

This was the 14th meeting between the two programs since they first played each other in 1906. Cincinnati leads the all-time series 9-4-1. The game was also the 120th for Coach Doc Holliday at Marshall over 10 years in the green and white.

This loss moves the Herd to 2-2 on the season as they head into conference play against Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, TN  on Oct. 5 at 3:30 p.m.
