He’s making a list, he’s checking it twice… Santa Claus is coming town…specifically to the Marshall Hall of Fame Café on the corner of 9th Street and 3rd Avenue.
The Café announced on their social media channels Wednesday that they would be teaming up with “The Nice List” charity to bring Santa Claus to its restaurant on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 6-8 p.m.
The Nice List, started in 2017 by Isaac and Michelle Morgan, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit headquartered in Huntington. Its purpose is to make sure children know they’re still on Santa’s “nice list” even/especially if their family is experiencing economic hardship. This year they have set out to buy “something warm” and a toy for 400 needy students at Spring Hill Elementary School.
“We don’t have children of our own, but if we did, [Spring Hill Elementary] would be the school that our child would go to,” Isaac Morgan said. “So, I want to make sure the kids in our neighborhood have a better holiday season.”
Santa himself will be in person at the Hall of Fame Café from 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 7th, and 15% of all sales from 4 p.m. until close will be donated to The Nice List’s Christmas drive. The Café is also collecting new, unwrapped gifts leading up to Santa’s visit.
“While we will be donating 15% of our sales that evening to Spring Hill Elementary & Milton Middle School, we are also currently accepting donations of unwrapped, brand new gifts,” said Marissa Milum, General Manager of the Marshall Hall of Fame Café. “The kids’ most requested need was ‘something to keep them warm’ so we are suggesting donations of new sweatshirts, blankets, jackets, gloves, scarfs, etc.”
Santa will have chairs and props and Hall of Fame customers are welcome to take photos with him free of charge. No photographer will be on site, so you will need to bring your own camera or phone.
