Nomada Bakery at 210 11th Street in downtown Huntington, WV is celebrating its five-year anniversary this summer.

Opened in the summer of 2019, Nomada Bakery came from the minds of Shawn Schulenberg and Ariel Barcenas, who are very public about their commitment to fresh, quality, organic ingredients. There are no artificial colors or flavors at Nomada, everything on the menu is made from real food.

Nomada claims it takes its inspiration from Shawn and Ariel’s family kitchens growing up, with plenty of cultural influences from around the world. The term “fusion cuisine” does not fully describe Nomada, where you are likely to see South American, Indian, and traditional Appalachian flavors mixed.

Nomada Bakery has an extensive regular menu that features empanadas, sandwiches, soups, salads, coffee, pastries, and mixed drinks. They also offer rotating specials that have recently included asparagus gruyère prosciutto croissants, strawberry rhubarb tarts, hot cross buns, and ramp empanadas.

Located in the main building at Heritage Station alongside the Huntington Welcome Center, Nomada Bakery is open seven days a week from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. They also have a wide variety of gluten-free and plant-based options.
