After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one of Huntington’s most popular parades, the Fire Prevention Parade, is back for 2022.

The annual Huntington Fire Prevention Parade returns to downtown Huntington at 7 p.m. Monday, October 10, the City of Huntington announced on its website. The theme of this year’s parade is “Fire Won’t Wait, Plan Your Escape” to promote the importance of households developing and practicing a home fire escape plan.

The parade will begin promptly at 7 p.m. at 12th Street and move west on 4th Avenue to 8th Street. Participants will start lining up at 5:45 p.m. between 12th Street and Hal Greer Boulevard.

Parking and vehicle traffic on 4th Avenue will be restricted from 5-10 p.m. on the day of the parade. In the interest of safety, participants will be prohibited from throwing candy. However, a representative from each parade entry will be allowed to walk along the sides of the street and hand out candy.

If you would like to participate in the 2022 Huntington Fire Prevention Parade, contact Carolyn Wright at 304-696-5950 or complete the parade registration form and email it to firemarshal@huntingtonwv.gov. Completed forms also can be dropped off at the Huntington Fire Department’s Centennial Station 1, located at 839 7th Avenue.
