Mark your calendars for December 9 and bring your dancing shoes! Honky Tonk Heroes is putting on their third annual toy drive, and it’s sure to be a blast. With “Come early and stay late” as this year’s theme, you don’t want to miss a minute of it.
The toy drive will be held at the V-Club located at 641 Sixth Avenue in downtown Huntington. Doors will open at 7 p.m., with the show kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Cover charge is either a $10 donation or a new unwrapped toy.
All proceeds go to a local charity called “Kids Need Christmas.” Last year, with help from headliner and Canadian folk-singer, Colter Wall pre-sale tickets raised $500 for the charity and the local Huntington Chapter of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers also contributed $1,000.
This year, there are plans to top that.
Headliners will include: Justin Wells, a country singer based out of Lexington, Kentucky. Wells often sings of dreams long forgotten and realizing new ones. Even if his songs aren’t based on any true event, this musical storyteller will make you believe every word.
Next up is Arlo McKinley & The Lonesome Sound, of Cincinnati, Ohio. Both Arlo and his band’s mantra is they are “just trying to extort a feeling,” and that is exactly what they achieve. With lyrics that will cut you right to your soul and melodies that will be in your head for years, Arlo McKinley & The Lonesome Sound will extort all of your feelings.
Rounding out the headliners will be Bryan Minks & The Kentucky Sons, a rock–and–roll band also from Lexington, KY. With high energy and lots of guitar, these guys just make you want to dance.
Other acts include local favorites: Jen Tackett, Zach McGlone, The Bad Decisions, Jon Bassin, Patrick Stanley, The Dividends and Flat Tracker
There will be laughs, photos, and who knows what else? You might just walk away with a new favorite band!
