Who’s looking to get funked up? If you are, then you’re in luck. The third annual Funktafest is coming on September 29, 2018!

Funktafest is a daylong music festival at the Ritter Park Amphitheater featuring some of the region’s top funk, groove, electronic, DJ, and jam-inspired acts. Not to mention food trucks and craft beer vendors.

The first Funktafest was held in October of 2016 and featured five acts and three DJs. It was attended by roughly 300 people. The 2017 installment grew to include 13 bands, three DJs, and was attended by roughly 1,000 people. The list of sponsors also grew from eight to 46.

2018 is on pace to shatter all previous standards with 20 total acts spread across three pre-parties, the festival itself, and the official afterparty. The scheduled acts include such local favorites as The M.F.B., Beggars Clan, The Settlement, Dinosaur Burps, Charlie Brown Superstar and DJ Charlie Blac. Headliners for the festival will be After Funk and Marbin with Opposite Box headlining the afterparty.

The first pre-party will be at Melody’s in Beckley on August 11, followed by The V-Club in Huntington on August 24, and The Boulevard Tavern in Charleston on September 8.  The festival itself will be on September 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. with an after party at the V-Club from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

“Early bird” tickets for the festival are $10 through July 1 (after that, tickets go up to $15). The prices for the pre-parties will be $8, $10, and $12 respectively. Tickets for the after party will be $12. All-access passes can be purchased through September 8 for $25 and include entry to all five events. VIP passes that include backstage access as well as entry into a special VIP section will be $50 and are available through the day of the festival.
