Ronald McDonald House Charities of Huntington will host its annual golf tournament fundraiser, presented by Advantage Toyota.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Huntington (RMHC) will host its annual charity golf tournament on Monday, June 4 at Guyan Golf and Country Club. Advantage Toyota has once again made a very generous presenting sponsor donation. Proceeds from the tournament help fund RMHC’s general operating budget.
Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” to sick children and their families. The House affords guests a place to stay with a warm bed and hot shower – a refuge during a time of medical crisis. In the past 30 years, it has hosted more than 13,000 families primarily from southern West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and southeastern Ohio.
David Ball, President of Advantage Toyota in Barboursville said his organization is proud to align themselves with the Ronald McDonald House, and the organization’s mission.
“We support the work that Ronald McDonald House does in our community to keep families close to their children while they receive hospital treatment for life-threatening medical conditions,” Ball said. “Almost everyone knows someone who has been touched by this organization when a child is diagnosed with serious illness. We are proud to further their mission to provide a ‘home away from home’ to families of sick children.”
Director of Development, Jaye Toler, said families often come to Ronald McDonald House in a vulnerable state. “They’re scared,” she said. “They are facing the nightmare of having a child with a life-threatening medical condition, and wanting desperately to find the care they need. Many have been sleeping in hospital chairs, and they are grateful to have a warm place to stay, with home-cooked meals and a shoulder to lean on. And we’re proud to offer that to them – for two weeks or two years. Each time we get to send someone home healthy, it’s a blessing.”
Toler said there are still opportunities available to participate in the fundraiser.
“We need to sell 35 foursomes to reach our goal,” Toler said. “We have several sponsorship opportunities available from $100 to $5,000, and room for more foursomes to play – so I encourage anyone who loves to golf, and would like to help our Ronald McDonald House kids, to join us,” she said. “We are also in the process of asking our friends and neighbors to donate items to our silent auction bundles, if anyone is interested in helping that way. I’ve been so humbled by the many of them who have offered gift certificates to local restaurants, tickets to concerts and more. Each year, Huntington continues to prove its generosity.”
Golf registrations for players begin at $1,000 per foursome and include golf fees, two meals and beers, and many gifts including a hat, umbrella, polo shirt and more.
